One
of the most enjoyable parts of writing a book like this one is meeting and becoming friends with all those who were willing
to help with the book. Many people volunteered their time and effort in either sending information or pictures. They also
supplied the encouragement and excitement which kept me focused on the research and writing of the book. I have made many
dear friends.
I
want to thank Juanita Cox Bentley for her patience and help. I called on her often. She supplied much of the Henry Davis information;
I am indebted to her.
I
an also indebted to Sara Melton Sumner; she was a great help in sending pictures and information on the Millirons and Meadows
families. Thanks Sara.
Reba
and Jack Crawford, thanks so much for the encouragement, help and pictures.
Christine
Hamblin Distelhorst sent tons of pictures which made the book come to life. She is a dear friend. Thanks Christine for the
Hamblin and Millirons pictures and information.
A
dear childhood friend, Milton Davis took the time from his busy life sending pictures and information. Again, making the book
come alive. He graciously sent information from the King and Brunk Family Bibles and many pictures.
Bobbie
Lee, a Ritter descendent helped with the Ritter Family. Thanks Bobbie. I hope to meet you one day.
Loretta
Hancock Patterson and Karen Fallin helped with the Hancock Family. Karen also helped with the Pauley Family. Thanks to both
of you.
I have to
add Suella Wolfe and Kay Robinson Welch for their help with photographs. I must thank them for having patience
with my never ending questions about the King family. Thanks, Suella and Kay.
Thanks to
Joyce Smith for helping out with the Harrell family! I could not have done it without you.
To
everyone who let me know they were interested in the book, thank you. I appreciate the interest and hope no one will be disappointed.
If
I have unintentionally left anyone out, forgive me. There have been many others who offered encouragement which helped a lot
when things were a little slow. Thanks to everyone.
